Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will be presented annually to an individual whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community they have worked and lived in during their lifetime. Very similar to the qualities we look for in the Citizen of the Year Award, we look for the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
• A person who has consistently volunteered his or her time, dedication and talents to the community and the citizens of the community to make it a great place to live, work, play and learn.
• A person who has made a positive difference in the lives of fellow citizens.
• Someone who is dedicated to St. James and concerned for others. They may have actively served on service, school, church or community committees.
• A person who has shown a willingness to work with other St. James residents, who is enthusiastic about the town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the community.
• A person with the qualities of honesty and integrity.
• A person who has performed an outstanding achievement or act of heroism.
• Someone who has overcome significant personal adversity.
Criteria for the Lifetime Achievement Award:
• Nominee must currently live or work in St. James or immediate surrounding area.
• Nominee must be age twenty-one (21) or older.
• The achievement(s) is based on a lifetime of dedicated service. To be eligible, the entire service is not required to have been done completely in the City of St. James and surrounding area.
• Nominations should be based on the qualities provided above and must show a consistent service to make the community a better place to work, live and play. -
Citizen of the Year
This award will be presented annually to an individual (or couple) whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community during the preceding year. Qualities looked for are as follows:
• A person who continually volunteers his or her time, dedication and talents to the town and the citizens of the town to make St. James a great place to live, work, play and learn.
• A person who has made a positive difference in the lives of fellow citizens.
• Someone who is dedicated to St. James and concerned for others. They may serve on service, school,
church or community committees.
• A person who has shown a willingness to work with other St. James residents, who is enthusiastic about the
town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the community.
• A person with the qualities of honesty and integrity.

• Nominations should be based on the qualities provided above.

Business of the Year
Each year the Chamber recognizes businesses that are active members of the community and proud of what they have achieved. Businesses may nominate themselves or be nominated by another company or individual for this award. Qualities looked for are as follows:
• A business that is active in the community, who is visible to citizens as a business that cares about the community and its people.
• A business with owners or management that encourages community involvement.
• A business that has willingness to work with other St. James businesses or organizations, who is enthusiastic about the town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the community.
• Gives generously of themselves and or staff in time and resources to help improve the community.
Criteria for the Business of the Year Award:
• Nominee must be a business member of the St. James Chamber of Commerce.
• The achievement(s) on which the nomination is based must have occurred between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025 to be eligible.
• Nominations should be based on the qualities provided above and must show a consistent service to make the community a better place to work, live and play.
The deadline to submit nominations is Monday December 8th, 2025 -
Organization of the Year
This award will be presented annually to an organization whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community during the preceding year. Qualities looked for are as follows:
• An organization who continually volunteers time, dedication and talents to the town and the citizens of the
town to make St. James a great place to live, work, play and learn.
• An organization who has made a positive difference in the lives of the citizens of St. James.
• A group who is dedicated to St. James and concerned for its citizens.
• An organization who has shown a willingness to work with other groups or businesses in St. James, who is
enthusiastic about the town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the
community.
• An organization with leadership that encourages community involvement.
• An Organization that gives generously of themselves and or volunteers in time and resources to help
improve the community.
Criteria for the Organization of the Year Award:
• Nominee must be a St. James Organization, meaning the tax documents filed for the organization must
have a St. James address.
• The achievement(s) on which the nomination is based must have occurred between January 1, 2025 and
December 31, 2025 to be eligible.
• Nominations should be based on the qualities provided above and must show a consistent service to make
the community a better place to work, live and play.
HOW TO NOMINATE
If you are or know of an organization that has the above-mentioned qualities and criteria, please complete the attached form and provide a written statement giving details which will help the board make their selection of the winning nomination. You may provide with your nomination, letters from others who would also support the nomination and may have additional information to add about the nominee’s contributions to the community.
The deadline to submit nominations is Saturday, December 8th 2025. -
Public Servant of the Year
This award will be presented annually to an individual whose outstanding service and dedication have made the St. James Community a better place to live. Public servants include: Firefighters, police officers, public health officials, & elected officials, Here are some of the values that should be evaluated in the nomination process:
Problem solving and critical thinking.
Communication.
The ability to influence others through reasoned argument.
Respect for hierarchy.
Resilience.
The ability to work collaboratively.
Leadership.
A person who serves ethically and with integrity, Puts the interests of the public and the public service ahead of their own personal interests
Criteria for Public Servant of the year:
• Nominee must live or work in St. James or immediate surrounding area.
• Nominee must be age twenty-one (21) or older.
• The achievement(s) on which the nomination is based must have occurred between January 1, 2025 and
December 31, 2025 to be eligible.
• Nominations should be based on the qualities provided above.
HOW TO NOMINATE
If you have a friend, neighbor, co-worker or relative that you feel fits the above-mentioned qualities and criteria, please complete the attached form and provide a written statement giving details which will help the board make their selection of the winning nomination. You may provide with your nomination, letters from others who would also support the nomination and may have additional information to add about the nominee’s contributions to the community.
